Responsibilities of Acquisition Section
- Frame the policy of book/periodical (Print as well as non-print) acquisition including accepting donation and exchange materials.
- Maintenance of book selection tools.
- To receive the books from booksellers on approval and arranging book exhibitions.
- To obtain recommendations from users.
- To develop database of the recommendations received.
- Collect the donations in terms of documents.
- Checking of duplications.
- Selection of vendors for supply of reading materials.
- Decision about cash purchase, advance payments, etc.
- Sending of orders for supply of reading materials and preparation of order record.
- Sending reminders to the vendors about non receipt of reading materials.
- Bringing the parcels from transport office in certain cases.
- Checking of books with orders and also verify the price.
- Checking and passing of bills.
- Monitoring budget for departments.
- Prepare the list of new additions.
- Giving feedback to faculty members about arrival of information sources.
- Allotment of books for various sections of the library.
- Maintenance of statistics of the section/library.
- Send acknowledgement of donations.
- Maintenance of record of the section.
- Other work concerned with the section.
